Health maintenance

The AIDS Action Council provides the following services to assist people living with HIV/AIDS with their health maintenance.

Vitamin service

The service offers vitamins and health supplements at cost price. Certain items are kept in stock, others may be ordered as required.

People with HIV/AIDS experiencing financial hardship may be eligible for a $50 per month treatment allowance from the Trevor Daley Fund to cover the cost of vitamins and some other treatments.

Nutrition

PLWHA can make referrals to a dietician at The Canberra Hospital who can offer advice on nutrition and HIV-related dietary problems.

Massage and naturopathic clinic

Massages and Naturopathic consultations are available through our clinic held each Thursday at Westlund House at a heavily discounted price. Appointments can be made through the PLWHA office.

Complementary therapies

PLWHA has brought together a range of complementary therapists who are interested in working with people with HIV. Therapies such as acupuncture, naturopathy, Reiki, Inner Quest and homeopathy are all available to positive people at reduced rates.

PLWHA has also produced a complementary therapies kit which contains fact sheets on a range of complementary therapies and a directory of therapists working in the ACT.

Eventually the kit will be on this site, but for now, copies can be obtained from the PLWHA office.
