The Dr Peter Rowland Memorial Address
The Seventh Annual Dr Peter Rowland Memorial Address was presented by Richard Refshauge SC, Director of Public Prosecutions and Chair of The Ministerial Advisory Council on Sexual Health, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and Related Diseases.
An important part of our AGM each year is the Annual Dr Peter Rowland Memorial Address, this Address is so that the memory of Peter will remain in the minds of our community. Peter was murdered in 1996. Peter was one of the first medical practitioner in the ACT to work with People Living with HIV AIDS. He and several others were responsible for conducting the first coming out programs that many of you have attended over the years conducted by the ACC.
Richard Refshauge SC was a personal friend of Peter's and it is appropriate that he gave this Seventh Annual Address.

Communication and Media Award
Two years ago we decided to change the Communication Award to the Communication and Media Award, we felt the media award should in fact be greater than just ‘media’. We made a decision that in fact it should be a communication award, to include anyone who has worked to provide an avenue to provide quality communication of HIV/AIDS issues in the ACT Community.
This year the Communication Award recognises Brendan Smyth MLA. Brendan has been a huge supporter of the AAC, he attends all the events ranging from Candlelight, WAD, Fairday and he will also be joining us at the Ball.
