Rosanna is visiting Australia and New Zealand to raise awareness of, and interest in, work towards a resolution on sexuality and human rights at the UN Commission on Human Rights (CHR).
In particular she will talk on:
- why a resolution is important for LGBTI people around the world,
- the background to the Brazilian resolution on sexual orientation and human rights (who supported and opposed it and why it hasn't been debated so far),
- what's likely to happen at the next CHR now that Brazil looks likely to withdraw from supporting the resolution, and
- she will also outline the work of the International Lesbian and Gay Association and its relevance to Australia and New Zealand.
Howard Glenn will outline what Australians can do to support up-coming discussions on a CHR resolution, including lobbying the Australian Government and other governments.
Rosanna's visit is being auspiced by Rights Australia, a new Australian human rights NGO with a focus on achieving a Bill of Rights, as well as advancing the human rights of disadvantaged minorities such as indigenous and LGBTI people.
Rosanna will also be talking in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Auckland and Wellington.
