Media Release: the AIDS Action Council showcases the impact of its ‘Contribution to Change’ at the 2018 Annual General Meeting
The AIDS Action Council of the ACT held their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 28 November and announced their newest Life Members – John Mackay and Danny Ryding. The evening also included a Peter Rowland Memorial Address and election of a renewed Board.
The Council Awards presented included the President’s Award to longtime volunteer Pat McEwan and Communications Awards to Jacob White the driving force behind Yes!Fest and Jules Kim, CEO of Scarlet Alliance, Australian Sex Workers Association.
“Our work is supported by an incredible network of individuals and organisations every year,” said the Council’s Executive Director Philippa Moss. “Our annual awards are just a small token of our appreciation and a way we can acknowledge the meaningful impact of their contribution.”
The AGM showcased the work of the organisation and demonstrated the impact this work provides. The Council’s Monitoring and Evaluation Framework, ‘Contribution to Change’ brings together peer-based expertise, evaluation data, and the results of external research to build a credible picture of how the Council is contributing to outcomes for the community it seeks to serve. The membership elected five new members to the Board to steer and govern the organisation. Adam Stankevicius, Tim Dyke, Sue Webeck, Elena Rosenman and Joel Radcliffe join ongoing Board members, Wayne Herbert, Alex Durrant and Michael Sparks. Philippa Moss said “Our Board is essential to the good governance of the Council and we appreciate their insight, expertise and generous support as volunteers who play a vital role in the strategic direction and sustainability of the Council.”
